The Ministry of Health and Social Services outreach programme received a boost in its coffers when Metropolitan Momentum Investments holdings (MMI) sponsored a whooping N$ 100 000 towards the medical outreach programme.
The Minister - Hon. Bernard Haufiku extended his appreciation to the noble gesture as well as to all volunteering doctors on this programme.
He said in the past there have been doctors conducting the outreach campaign from referral hospitals to district hospitals, but when he took office in March 2015 he decided to formalize this exercise by strengthening and capacitating.
The outreach campaign is comprised of private doctors mostly specialists in various medical disciplines, and state doctors who goes to different regions at a time and provide medical services mainly perform surgeries at district state hospitals.
This campaign also identified challenges at these health facilities and resolves, they have further made it a point to assess infrastructures, medical equipments and the availability of relevant staff members at those facilities to intervene and mitigate in areas with challenges. Skill transfer is another goal of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jason Nandago - Group CEO for MMI holdings, thanked the Minister for innovating the programme noting that his institution supports projects of such caliber as they have seen people suffering due to a lack of appropriate health care.
“My own mother died of cancer when I was just 11 years old” Nandago uttered” It is for this reason I will continue to invest in such innovations.
Mr. Nandago promised the Ministry that for every higher donation the Ministry receives towards the programme, MMI holdings will top up the difference to ensure that their institution remains the highest sponsoring towards this course.
