Welfare organizations in Namibia are registered, monitored and controlled in terms of the National Welfare Act, 1965 (Act 79 of 1965) as amended. The Ministry of Health and Social Services administering these Acts.

The National Welfare Board in Namibia is established in terms of the National Welfare Act, 1965 (Act 79 of 1965) as amended. The overall function of the Board amongst other functions are to regulate the registration of welfare organizations, to promote and encourage coordination of the activities of registered welfare organizations and to afford guidance to and exercise control over the activities of regional welfare committees.

Regional Welfare Committees are established in all fourteen (14) regions to assist applicants with the registration of welfare organizations.

Enquiries and application for the registration of welfare organizations can be submitted to the office of the Secretary of the Regional Welfare Committee at the district social work office of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Services in all fourteen regions.
